How to Tell Your Story in a Video in 5 Steps

Everyone has 500 photos in their camera roll and does nothing with them. When they try — they open iMovie, CapCut, see 40 timelines, and quit. Here's a method that works without any editing skills. 5 steps, 3 minutes, guaranteed emotional result.

Step 1 — Pick a narrative before picking photos

Classic mistake: open the gallery and pick "pretty" photos. Result: random collection, no impact. First, decide which of 3 narratives you want to tell:

A. Chronological — first day to today.
B. Emotional — moments by intensity (calm → euphoric → intimate).
C. Thematic — only trips, only laughs, only firsts.

Step 2 — Apply the 10-12 rule

Fewer than 10 photos is too short for emotional payoff. More than 15 is too long for them to watch through. Sweet spot is 10-12. Each photo must "carry" 5-10 seconds of attention alone. If a photo doesn't make you feel anything — cut it.

Step 3 — Add 1 short video (max 10s)

Photos are powerful. Video is explosive. A short clip (a laugh, a kiss, dancing badly in the kitchen) completely changes the emotional temperature. Save it for the middle or end — never for the start.

Step 4 — Write short captions, not descriptions

"Adraga Beach - July 2024" is a description. It doesn't move anyone. "The day we lost the wallet and didn't care" is a caption. Rule: the caption should say what the photo does NOT show — invisible context, the private joke, what they said next.

Step 5 — Pick the right format

Formal anniversary → Netflix theme (cinematic, serious, "important"). Valentine's Day → Spotify theme (light, musical, joyful). Proposal or reconciliation → Netflix. Just because, on a Saturday night → Games (Flappy Love, with their photo as player). Format tells half the story.

The most surprising part of this method? Applying it takes literally 3 minutes on Lovember. Pick the theme, upload 10-12 photos, write captions, and it builds the compilation for you — ready to share by link. No software, no export, no headache.

Ready to put it into practice?

Your story deserves more than sitting on your camera roll. Build your compilation in 3 minutes.
